Together with Urban Institute and a team of local and regional policy advisors, the Metropolitan Planning Council is conducting a two-year, groundbreaking study to identify the cost of our region’s racial and economic segregation and test policies that would reduce this cost.
At this meeting, Marisa Novara and Kendra Freeman from MPC will share findings from the first phase of their research, focused on the impact of racial and economic segregation on key indicators of per capita income, educational attainment, life expectancy and homicides in Chicago and across the top 100 metros across the country. We will also be joined by Andy Geer of Enterprise Community Partners to discuss ways we can use these new research findings to bolster arguments for fair and affordable housing. Enterprise’s new report explores common messaging pitfalls and evidence-based tips for framing affordable housing and community development arguments.
Join us as we discuss the implications of these report findings and devise messaging strategies to expand public discourse on housing issues.
