For many of us, census data is crucial to the work we do, from bolstering arguments for advocacy initiatives and grant proposals, to simply gaining a better understanding of the communities we serve; yet proper use of and efficiencies in navigating this data does not come easy. To equip yourself and/or relevant staff with the skills needed to access and utilize census data, please join CAFHA for this special training. At this training, you will gain an understanding of:
- The differences in census data products from various datasets and programs
- The steps to understand, access, and extract census data from demographic and economic surveys
- Tips for identifying what data to use for a variety of purposes
Training will be facilitated by Ileana Serrano, Data Dissemination Specialist at the US Census Bureau. Ileana Serrano is with the U.S. Census Bureau’s Data Dissemination Branch working to provide Census data dissemination support to Indiana and Illinois stakeholders. She has extensive knowledge of data collection activities, working over two decades on the Special Census Program.
To assess the learning needs of the group, we ask that upon registration you indicate your level of experience with census data by choosing “beginner” or “working knowledge” user.
